Is it legal to grow hemp?

On December 20, 2018 the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, or 2018 Farm Bill, was signed into law legalizing hemp and its byproducts (1). This has opened the doors for hemp farming, investing in hemp, and the growth of the support network surrounding the industry. While hemp and its byproducts are legal on a federal level, legislation and restrictions still differ from state to state.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant and there are more than 85 identified cannabinoids. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most well known cannabinoid produced by the cannabis plant, and is the ONLY psychoactive cannabinoid. Of the 85+ non-psychoactive cannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most widely known.
